Former AFL coach takes Academy role at Bonny

BONBEACH Football Netball Club has launched a player Academy to be overseen by a team of experienced mentors including ex- St Kilda coach Scott Watters and players Justin Peckett and Trent Dennis-Lane.

The academy is designed to create the best pathway for young male and female players to progress to senior football by providing highlevel coaching and off-field mentoring.

President Matthew Lowe said it would set the Sharks up as a leader in junior development in the MPNFL.

“The Bonbeach Player Academy is set to provide players and coaches with the opportunity to access support and development programs, while forming relationships in an inclusive and supportive network,’’ he said. “We believe that will foster a strong pathway to senior football.”

Along with the three ex-AFL stars, the academy team will include senior Shark Brad Sykes in a communication and player development role and James Harding overseeing player welfare. The academy will focus on creating the best path for under 16, under 17 and under 19 players to develop and progress, however, younger age groups will also have regular exposure to the academy team.

*THERE was a three-way tie in the Bonbeach best and fairest between Jackson Casey, Dylan Jones and Shane McDonald.
